We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.
Antenatal clinic
If you think you might be pregnant we suggest you either do a home pregnancy test or ask us to arrange one for you. Once confirmed, please make an appointment with the midwife about 6 weeks from your last period. Your care will be managed by our midwife, with support from your doctor as necessary.
Margaret Grainger, our midwife, can be contacted directly via reception.
Postnatal checks
You will be seen after the birth of your baby by the midwife after which the health visitor will make an appointment to visit you. The health visitor will remind you to make a post-natal review appointment with your GP at 6 weeks.
Baby and child immunisation clinic
Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm.
You will be notified when your child is due for immunisation or assessment. Please book an appointment through reception.
The health visitor will provide a schedule of developmental assessment and will make contact when appropriate.
Women’s health
Cervical smear tests
Our practice nurses are qualified to perform smear tests which can be arranged by appointment. Women aged between 25 and 49 should have a test every three years and women aged 50+ every five years thereafter. You will be notified when your smear test is due. If, after three notification letters and a doctor’s letter, a patient fails to attend for a smear, the responsibility for the smear test will rest with that patient.
Family planning
A full range of contraceptive services is provided by this practice. Drs Delhanty and Zoltonos are qualified to fit coils and/or contraceptive implants.
Please see your doctor if you wish to start or discuss your contraception.
Routine pill checks should be made with the practice nurse.
If you have been advised by the surgery to submit a contraceptive pill review please use our online form.
Adult health
Asthma and COPD clinic
Sisters Hewitt-Stubbs and Dhany are responsible for the asthma and COPD checks. We aim to give our asthma patients a routine review check on an annual basis. If you have been advised by the surgery to submit an annual review of your asthma symptoms or COPD, please use our online form. Appointments can be made after discussion with your doctor.
Diabetic clinic
Sister Emmett runs the diabetic clinic. This is for all diabetics who we ask to attend the clinic on an annual basis. You will need a diabetic blood test two weeks before your appointment and you should bring an early morning urine sample to the clinic. Insulin dependent diabetics who are cared for by the hospital diabetic team will still need an annual review here at the surgery. If you have a routine query about your diabetes, please contact Sister Emmett initially.
Heart attack aftercare
We run an annual follow-up clinic for ischaemic heart disease patients.
Near patient testing
We will monitor certain treatments prescribed by a hospital specialist.
Adult immunisations/vaccinations (also see travel immunisations)
Immunisations are available by appointment with the practice nurse. We recommend polio booster every 10 years and tetanus booster every 10 years. If you have received five doses you are likely to have lifelong immunity and booster doses are only required on injury if more than 10 years have elapsed since the last dose.
Minor surgery
The doctors provide their own minor surgery service. Your doctor will arrange a minor operation if appropriate. Please make an appointment with your GP in the first instance.
Wart and skin lesion clinic
We have the equipment for doctors to freeze warts and skin lesions in normal appointments.
Travel immunisations and advice (including Yellow Fever)
These are carried out by the practice nurse by appointment.
Cheltenham Road Surgery is an authorised Yellow Fever vaccination centre. This service is also available at the travel clinic to people who are not patients of the practice.
There will be a charge for certain vaccinations. Please ask reception for details.
Travel clinic site
We are one of Gloucester’s principal travel clinic providing comprehensive medical advice for overseas travel. For more information please visit our travel clinic page.
Non-NHS medical services
Company and assurance medicals
The doctors will perform private medicals by appointment. They will be conducted outside normal surgery hours by appointment. This service is also available to people who are not on our practice list.
